I've had my rats for nearly three weeks now, but haven't been able to let them free range as I need to rat-proof my room. I was just wondering if I could have some advice. How do I make sure my room is as safe as possible? How do I Its Easy - Various - Extended Family - Hustlers Edition get them back in?

They're much more comfortable with me now, but aren't So Much Trouble In The World - Free Range Rat - Nut Club comfortable with handling. In my opinion, the best way to rat proof is to get rid of obvious hazards, and then let them loose and see what else they get into.

My room was already pretty rat proofed because it was rabbit proofed for my bunny, so all the cords were gone and one day I decided under very close supervision I would let my boys out in my room instead of just taking them to a bathroom like I had for all my rats playtime prior.

I just watched them to see what happened. They got into more trouble then I thought possible, and it was a real learning experience for me because I found out you can never know what a rat's weird quirks will be until you let them loose. They dug up my carpet, so I placed ceramic tiles over the places they liked to dig and that behavior stopped. They also climbed up my bookcase without anyway of getting down, so I placed a barricade on one of the shelves that hung down so they couldn't get past it.

They also really loved my milk jug I keep to keep purified water in for my betta's tank, so I had to move that, along with the trash can since they would constantly jump into it.

As for getting them back in, it depends on the rat. If they Valerie - Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder - Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder fairly friendly, they probably will just come up to you from time to time.

Most rats tend to go into their cage every once in a while by themselves though. My boy Sidoh will go back on command most of the time despite being a fraidycat, though all he does during playtime is sleep in my bed next to me so I don't usually put him back. I have a tumblr of some of the things my rats have chewed on because they are nearly free-range. I posted it on here and have been criticized for not being cautious, but rat proofing when you don't have a whole lot of space and a lot of stuff is not easy.

My first recommendation would be, try to conceal any wooden stuff and wires because they might go straight for it When I let my rats free-range, I had to cover up some of the smaller crevices they could get in. Gorilla tape worked great for that. Also, rats loooooove to chew on electrical wires.

Make sure to put your wires up high or out of reach, because they WILL get chewed and it can be a fire hazard.

I tried using a bitter spray on my wires that is meant to prevent dogs from chewing on things, but that didn't work. I haven't been even remotely confident with free roaming, I have so much stuff they could get into Rats are ingenious and intelligent creatures, just Elements Of Bass - Techmaster Swiff - Elements Of Bass Remixes them will tell you what still needs to be addressed.

As for getting them back in, every Rat I've ever had has a pretty good sense of where 'home' is. They've either sought me So Much Trouble In The World - Free Range Rat - Nut Club or gone back to their cage on their own, so I can't offer a ton of advice on that front. How to get them back in? If you have all the bad spots blocked off, it's fairly easy to corral them back into the enclosure. I usually take them to the bathroom and work on training them to come before letting them free range in more open areas.

Thanks for the advice! I was planning on using the bathroom, but since my nbath has broken and the side of it hangs loose, meaning they could get under there with all the hot pipes and everything, so it's a no-go!
